Mondays are hard to begin with. But, take a Monday morning add some rain and super dark skies, make it occur after an amazing weekend that included several birthday parties and college buds visiting plus a Sunday spent playing frisbee and getting the most delicious batch of french toast i’ve ever had cooked for me and you’ve got 2 cans of diet coke before noon and aimless facebook stalking instead of work productivity. womp womp.
Frisbee contributes to another awesome weekend!! Keep ‘em flying!
I am supposed to be writing about my lifestyle at Flagler or a hobby, sport, club, etc. Really, these can kind of be roped into one topic for me. Frisbee. I know it sounds dumb, but it is really how I made some of my really good friends here (at Flagler, that is). It also helped me transition into a life not filled with competitive sports. I played volleyball for six years and had every intention to play in college, but some things just don’t go the way you plan, so I ended up not being able to. Frisbee turned out to be a healthy alternative for me to get my aggression out.
So, I started playing finals’ week of my first semester at school. I had met some of the people playing through friends of friends. The first night was pretty unsuccessful. I had a blade thrown at my face (if you don’t know what a blade is, I will explain in a later post). But something woke up inside me, like some jovial spirit that had been sleeping all the while, just waiting for the right moment to expose itself. From then on, I have been addicted, a slave to this spirit. I crave it. Every throw is like a power trip. Every catch, invigorating.
Alright, I will stop. Whoever reads this probably thinks that I am a little bit obsessive. Which, in reality, I might be, but I really enjoy it. I’m sure I am not alone.
This is me, failing to catch a frisbee. I am actually pretty good, though.
So, I have created this blog as a project in my Intro to Computers and Communication Applications class. We will see where it goes from here.
